Digital x-rays use a digital image capture device in place of traditional film, sending an image immediately to a computer. The result is a highly-detailed image of the mouth, and its contrast and resolution can be enhanced to more easily diagnose dental problems and determine the best treatment with less radiation.
An Intra-Oral Camera is a small imaging device that captures photos of the inside of your mouth. In contrast to x-rays, which can show the internal structures of your teeth & jaw, an Intra-Oral Camera shows the outside of your teeth & gums in high detail. This tool allows patients to visually see and understand their oral needs and provides another means for diagnosis of problem areas.
Overjet is FDA-cleared artificial intelligence software that reviews your dental X-rays alongside your dentist. As soon as an X-ray is taken, Overjet analyzes the image and outlines areas of possible decay and measures bone levels around each tooth, drawing that information directly onto the X-ray in color.
Think of it as a second set of eyes. Early decay between teeth can be genuinely difficult to see on a black-and-white X-ray, and small changes in bone level are easy to miss from one year to the next. Overjet flags those areas so they get a closer look.
It also makes your X-rays much easier to follow. Instead of asking you to take our word for a shadow on a screen, we can show you a clearly marked image and explain exactly what we are seeing and why we do or do not recommend treatment.
Overjet supports our diagnosis — it does not replace it. Every finding is reviewed and confirmed by your dentist, and your treatment plan is always built around your full clinical picture, not a single image.
Most dental offices send crowns out to a laboratory. That means a temporary crown, a second appointment two or three weeks later, and getting numb all over again. We do it differently. Our Glidewell fastmill.io™ mill sits right here in our High Point office, which means in most cases, we can design and make your crown while you wait.
After we scan your tooth, the crown is designed on screen and carved from a solid block of BruxZir® zirconia — one of the strongest and most natural-looking crown materials available. The milling itself takes about 30 minutes. We then polish and fit the crown the same day.
For you, that means:
Having the mill in-house also gives us control over the final result.
Our LuxCreo iLux Pro printer lets us make nightguards and retainers in our own office instead of sending your case away to an outside lab.
The process starts with a digital scan of your teeth — no impression trays and no putty. That scan becomes a precise 3D model, and the printer builds your appliance layer by layer from dental-grade resin. Because the design comes straight from a digital scan rather than a physical mold that can shift or distort, the fit tends to be more accurate and takes fewer adjustments.
Printing in-house also shortens the wait. Instead of the two to three weeks an outside lab usually needs, we can turn most nightguards and retainers around in a fraction of that time.
And because your digital scan stays in our system, replacing a lost or worn nightguard does not mean starting over. We simply print a new one from the file we already have.
We use this technology for:
If you have ever had a dental impression taken the old way, you remember it: a tray full of thick putty, several minutes of holding still, and a strong urge to gag. Our intraoral scanner replaces all of that.
The scanner is a small wand, about the size of a large electric toothbrush, that we glide around your teeth. It takes thousands of pictures per second and builds a complete 3D model of your mouth on the screen beside you — usually in just a couple of minutes. There is no putty, no tray, and nothing to gag on.
Patients tell us the best part is being able to see their own teeth up close. When we point out a cracked filling or a worn edge, you are looking at the same picture we are, at a size where it actually makes sense. That makes treatment decisions a lot easier to understand.
Digital scans are also the starting point for nearly everything else we make in-house, including same-day crowns, nightguards, retainers, and SureSmile® clear aligners. And because the scan is stored in your chart, we can compare it against future scans to track changes such as gum recession or tooth wear over time.
